چکیده

A Quark-Meson Coupling (QMC) model is extended to finite nuclei in the relativistic mean-field or Hartree approximation. The ultra-relativistic quarks are assumed to be bound in non-overlapping nucleon bags, and the interaction between nucleons arises from a coupling of vector and scalar meson fields to the quarks. We develop a perturbative scheme for treating the spatial nonuniformity of the meson fields over the volume of the nucleon as well as the nucleus. Results of calculations for spherical nuclei are given, based on a fit to the equilibrium properties of nuclear matter. Several possible extensions of the model are also considered. 21.60.Jz, 21.65.+f, 12.39.-x, 24.85.+p Typeset using REVTEX ∗On leave from Department of Physics, University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, MB, Canada R3T 2N2 1

The Quark-meson Coupling Model

We review the quark-meson coupling model, in which the quark degrees of freedom are explicitly involved to describe the properties of not only nuclear matter but also finite nuclei. Then, we present the electric and magnetic form factors for the proton bound in specific orbits for several closed-shell nuclei. Key-words: quark degrees of freedom, finite nuclei, electromagnetic form factors

Quark-Meson Coupling Model for a Nucleon

We considered the quark-meson coupling model for a nucleon. The model describes a nucleon as an MIT bag, in which quarks are coupled to the scalar and the vector mesons. A set of coupled equations for the quark and the meson fields are obtained and are solved in a self-consistent manner. We show that the mass of a dressed MIT bag interacting with σand ω-meson fields differs considerably from th...

The Role of Nucleon Structure in Finite Nuclei

The quark-meson coupling model, based on a mean field description of nonoverlapping nucleon bags bound by the self-consistent exchange of σ, ω and ρ mesons, is extended to investigate the properties of finite nuclei. Using the BornOppenheimer approximation to describe the interacting quark-meson system, we derive the effective equation of motion for the nucleon, as well as the self-consistent e...

The quark-meson coupling (QMC) model, which has been successfully used to describe the properties of both infinite nuclear matter and finite nuclei, is applied to a systematic study of Λ, Σ and Ξ hypernuclei. Assumptions made in the present study are, (i) the (self-consistent) exchanged scalar, and vector, mesons couple only to the u and d quarks, and (ii) an SU(6) valence quark model for the b...

Critical analysis of quark-meson coupling models for nuclear matter and finite nuclei

Three versions of the quark-meson coupling (QMC) model are applied to describe properties of nuclear matter and finite nuclei. The models differ in the treatment of the bag constant and in terms of nonlinear scalar selfinteractions. In two versions of the model the bag constant is held fixed at its free space value whereas in the third model it depends on the density of the nuclear environment....
